 Spring
Back to Full Blog

I live surrounded by farm land and today I went for a jog for the first time down the grass surrounds all the way to the town water tower. It was just beautiful and I was surrounded by woods, I never knew were there and they have paths, probably naturally made by deer. I shamed myself for never having ventured this way before. My dogs have escaped and gone for runs there, now I know why they long to do it again. I took two dogs with me for my run. The sheepdog always follows and never leaves my side so he did not need a leash, but my chocolate runs far away and would run into streets, so of course he had one. I tuckered them out, I think they will sleep for hours. Later I am going to take my yellow lab Quinn (or Marmaduke) for a run. He is the dog that really needs to get his willies out.

This also made me realize how fun it would be to ride a horse over there, I am going to talk my friend Mary into riding there with me. I have only ridden my horse in an arena because the one time he was ridden outside he freaked and was awfully hard to handle. But, I'd be willing to try him again.

It has been very dry for two weeks now and I just saw a fire truck putting out a brush fire near my pastures. Yikes! That's a scary thought. All you smokers out there be careful where you toss your lit cigarettes, especially during these dry spells.

Well, I just wanted to update you, since I have had a little dry spell myself, a little writer's block. Sometimes, I think I have to go out there and do a bit of living in order to have something fun to share here.

So, you all have a wonderful weekend!

sounds wonderful! but jogging? I can't jog, I just look stupid, and my knees would scream bloody murder!!!!!! Can you believe I never learned to ride a horse? I always wanted to, but never had the opportunity to really learn. We had an old stud horse one time on a farm we lived on temporarily while out house was being renovated by our grandfather, and this horse was the meanest son of a gun I ever saw. It ran around the barnyard snorting and kicking its feet, would run smack at you as fast as it could and stop short throwing dirt in your face! or bend over the creek a little more than it needed to in order to scoot you off ... if you did happen to get on it for a ride, it just took off! I mean you would have to hold on for dear life. There were no saddles for us. This horse would find the lowest tree branch, and rake you right off! I don't know what ever happened to that horse, I think my dad sold it, but we didn't miss it. Talk about a horse with an attitude! sheesh.

Bella, when I run I feel as free as when I ride a horse. It is the closest I can come to flying, that is only in my dreams.

That sounded like an unhappy horse. Mine are pretty happy, a matter of fact while I was running around their pasture they all galloped up to greet me, then followed me...pretty cute!

n., That was a wonderful ride-along on your place in the fields by the woods on a road to a town close by, where you shop for pencils and pens and beer... and horse and doggie food, of course. I am glad that your block has run it's course, and I look forward to seeing you up and writing again. I just love this atmosphere of your place and the animals and the seasons and your thoughts about life and the children and your man and of course, the barn and the riding ring with the kids , you work with. It is all a beautiful circle. Nice, Your friend,TR

n. - this was just a wonderful glimpse of your day.
I remember riding horse as a kid and finding some
back-hidden-path that was almost magical to ride.

Thanks for taking me back there.
Sounds like the pack is getting
a workout! What fun!

Enjoy Spring!

Sounds like fun and that you have finally found Spring! I, on the other hand, had 2 inches of snow delivered to me yesterday! I was going to try to get the chair outside to sit but the snow put those plans on hold for awhile......where is Spring?!

Hi,

I have started a "prayer link" for Shadow and Crone that will hopefully go around as much of the Stream as possible. If you don't get "linked to" another site in a comment, you can come to my site and send out the prayer from there. It is my hope that as many of us as possible will join hands to send all the possible positive energy we can to them. Thanks. CM
