Momma Rode Up to the Water Tower!
Back to Full Blog

Well, yup, as a Mother's Day promise my 15-year-old rode with her old lady, little ole' me, out of the ring and up to the Tower and I did not fall off and my horse did not run off with me. We walked there, and trotted all the way back, both horses behaving by not galloping back. I wanted to go yesterday, with my husband, but the darn horses avoided being caught, too happy with their pasture grass. And...who's the boss here?? Well, I have conquered my fears once again with a little help of a persistent daughter.
`
Last night I ran with my old Chocolate lab again, and as we were running up the hill to the tower, he spots a deer and off he goes after it....my face slamming intimately into the grassy knoll. Ouch, he ran off, leash and all with the Old English Sheepdog. I'm completely out of breath and yelling for Bailey, but, then I realized I was yelling for the wrong dog. So, I yelled for Brinkley, the sheepdog and he immediately returned to me...good doggie. He growled when I held onto his collar, he just hates anyone to do that, but he could see I was panicked and trying to get Bailey back, who sheepishly returned to me...bad doggie.

I released Brinkley, to his great relief and we walked back, the adventure, just an unpleasant memory. Well, I hope all you Mom's out there were spoiled a little bit by those that love you.

This sounded very familiar. For Mother's Day my husband took me on a ride over a local mountain and along a wash... to tell me had just bought 16 acres there! Then my divorced son came over and cleaned all of his stuff out of the storeroom, and drove it away in his old truck which had spent the past two years in my driveway! Wow! room for my junk again. I was happy, my horse was delighted, my hubby was happy, all is well in the sunny Arizona.

n. - that sounds like a little good mixed with a little bad!
I had a tough time catching the horses when I was
young too. I thought it was only THOSE horses that did that!
Glad to know that's pretty universal out there in the horse
world.

Then the irony?
The large animal behaves - while the smaller animal wreaks havoc?!

Oooo, sorry to hear that the face plant was an ouch. That is never fun.
I tell the Mr. that if my back isn't back to at least 80%, walks with the
dogs are out of the question. Two big dogs can throw out a back at the
sight of a single squirrel, followed closely by a snap of the neck and
tilt of the hips. That's it - syonara - no more back. It seems silly,
but the big dogs can do some damage!

Great picture! And I hope you had a HAPPY Mom's day!!!

Sunshines gift reminds me of the time I secretly brought my wife 16 acres of....

Wait a minute, I've never brought my wife 16 acres of anything! I guess I forfeit my title of Mr. Romance.

My wife is laughing. it seem Mr. Romance was never my title. It appears what my actual title is unprintable.
